Food in Thailand 1

Day 1: Well, being the first day in Thailand and exhausted after my shopping spree in MBK, the sky was getting dark at around 6 pm and my legs were hurting from the long walk. It was with this situation that me and my Korean colleague decided to look for food to salve our dinner hungers. We thus retired to Siam Paragon and traveled to the 5th or 6th floor before we found this huge restaurant selling pretty much everything. What do i mean?

The restaurant is called Orangeby and it encompasses Thai food, Japanese food, Western food, Italian food, A drinks bar and even Chinese food. Its a melting pot of cuisines and it took up most of the floor with its split semi alfresco style of seating arrangements. It was a rather chic get up actually.

Total Expenditure: Around USD 35-40
Orangeby

One part of the restaurant

Sushi

Can't remember which fish is wrapped in this but my take is that it was fresh and thankfully sweet. The rice itself is just right in terms of sugar and vinegar usage but otherwise a little too dry.
Yakiniku (japanese beef rice)

Their rendition of sliced beef rice is in all honesty, too darn sweet. It didn't help that the beef was overly dry and the rice overly soggy as well. To set the record, i certainly couldn't find it in me to finish it. Most was left over and i'm sorry for the food wastage here.
Salmon and unagi Sushi

Averaging about USD 4-5 per piece, i wouldn't say this was worth it actually. For what its worth, i did like the salmon and the unagi pieces on the rice. And actually, the most standout item is the wasabi, which is so strong, its impossible not to cry like a little girl if you overdose on it.
Vanilla and chocolate sundae

Another item that was simply average, the ice cream is not smooth for both flavors while the fillings was next to none. Too much cream on the middle portion and too little nice crunchy chocolate to make this recommendable.

Last take: In the end, i'm just glad my company's paying for this or else i may be in a trifle bad mood. As it is, this failed as an oasis after a rather tiring shopping spree but instead filled me with dread for the coming days in Thailand. Which is not fair since the following days faired much better. Day 2 coming up.
